From vine charcoal to Damar varnish, Dana Fine Arts employs the finest traditional artists' materials. Oil painting is a venerable craft, and DFA respects it. Supports and grounds are of archival quality, and only the highest grade artists' oil colors are utilized. The oils, varnishes and mediums used are also of equal quality. DFA uses natural and synthetic hog and sable brushes, and not airbrushes as many people suppose. DFA is constantly working, through research and experimentation, to optimize both painting quality and durability. DFA strives for environmental responsibility through diligent recycling, using second-hand rags instead of paper towels, and by minimizing the use of solvents.
